Embolic cysts are rare developmental anomalies that usually appear as isolated lesions. We report a case of a 2-year-old boy with epilepsy who presented with episodes of paroxysmal tension headache and vomiting. During one of these episodes, he became comatose. Computed tomography scans of the head showed an extensive cystic mass in the posterior cranial fossa. Magnetic resonance imaging was also suggestive of the presence of an intra-axial mass. The presence of both large and small vessels and a thickened dura was also noted. The patient underwent surgical excision of the mass, and a histopathological examination revealed an extensive cystic lesion lined by histiocytes with some haemorrhagic areas. The Ingham County Prosecutor's Office says Patrick Shields, 24, of Wyoming, Mich., was arrested Wednesday and charged with entering the U.S. illegally and willfully concealing his identity.
Prosecutors say Shields was arrested during a traffic stop at about 8 a.m. in the area of West Bay City Road and M-75. They say his children were in the car and a border patrol agent searched the vehicle and found the couple's other two children, who are about 5 and 2 years old, in the back seat without any seat belts on.
